EARLY TREATMENT

What is a health screening?

The importance of health screening

A health screening involves a set of medical tests that check for specific diseases and health conditions. These tests include blood and/or urine tests, or imaging procedures like X-rays and ultrasound, which enables your doctor to help identify any problems early.

It is often easier to prevent further complications if an illness or condition is detected early. Early detection would also improve your chances of a full recovery.

How should I prepare?

As soon as you make a booking, our team will arrange for a doctor or nurse to visit you within the comfort and privacy of your home, to help you prepare for your health screening.

In general, we will need to:

  • Understand your family health history
  • Conduct a blood test and urine test
  • Possibly arrange for X-rays, ultrasound, and so on.

These are required to help detect potential health risks through a thorough assessment to gain an in-depth understanding of your health status. If you are undergoing a blood test, you will need to fast for at least 8 hours but plain water is allowed.

You should also inform us if you experienced fever symptoms three days before the day of your appointment.

Ladies are to ensure that your menstruation cycle has ended at least three days before your urine test.

What can I expect after the test?

A teleconsultation will be scheduled for your Speedoc doctor to review your results with you. If your doctor finds any abnormalities in your results, we can arrange for follow-up tests and fast-track specialist referrals on your behalf.

Who should consider health screening?

Conditions such as diabetes and high blood cholesterol often have few early symptoms, as such, planning your health screening at recommended intervals is crucial to ensuring your good health.

If you are 18 years old and above, a health screening can give you an overview of your current health status in anticipation of commencing tertiary education or your career. You should undergo a health screening once every two years, until you reach 30 where a yearly health screening is recommended.

For those aged 40 and above, it is highly recommended to receive a health screening once every two years to help you keep track of your health and detect any chronic conditions early for prompt treatment.
