In Port Marine Circular No. 27 of 2020 issued by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) announced that telemedicine consultations are allowed for use to facilitate crew change and crew sign-offs.
Since June, Speedoc has done over 2,000 successful crew changes, helping seafarers who were previously stranded at sea return home safely, as soon as possible. If you’re a shipping agent looking for a medical provider who can help with crew change 24/7, look no further than Speedoc!
As a 24/7 medical service provider, Speedoc can conduct fit-to-travel assessments and issue certificates at any time of the day. This can be done either through telemedicine (done via WhatsApp) or at anchorage. Our fit-to-travel certificates are recognised by the Immigrations and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).
The completed fit-to-travel certificates will be sent to you via email in PDF format within 1 hour after the end of the teleconsultation.
Here’s a quick comparison of both methods to help you choose the most suitable one for your crew change:
The crew will need to have the following items handy during the video call with the Speedoc doctor:
If thermometers and/or oximeters are not available onboard, they are available for purchase from Speedoc as well. Alternatively, you could also opt for anchorage, where our doctors will bring along the necessary equipment when they board the ship.
